JNR Rural Internet & PC Repair has opened its doors on Broadway in Valley Falls, promising full service in the digital age. They invited the public to a get-acquainted open house April 15

The company is an Internet service provider furnishing wireless broadband service at Oskaloosa, Lakeshore Estates, Valley Falls, and all the rural area in between.

The second aspect of the business is providing computer repair on all makes in their shop or in the home.

Brian Allen is the customer relations person, handling the front office and the firm’s accounting. Rusty Sloniger is the network administrator handling the Internet service. John Pietzsch (pronounced Peach) is in charge of repairing computers.

Brian and Rusty are Oskaloosa natives and have served on the fire department together. John grew up in Independence, Mo., and met Rusty while attending the vocational-technical school in Atchison.

The three men, all having their particular specialty, studied a business proposition for over a year before deciding to form it last September. Their location at 407 Broadway is their first storefront.

They hope in time to expand their Internet service to include Nortonville and Winchester, but are waiting to get their feet on the ground here first. Sloniger said rural service can be provided to most homes, at least those “in line of sight” from the company’s towers.

However, he said there are constant upgrades and things being done to improve and bring service to all homes.

Pietzsch said he will try to resolve any hardware or software issues people have with their computer. Common issues are virus problems and protection along with upgrades. He can work on all brands.

Pietzsch will make house calls and the company provides pickup and delivery.

“We intend to be a full-service company,” Allen said.

Allen and Sloniger reside in Oskaloosa. Allen has a 6-year-old son and Sloniger has two boys, 6 and 8.

Pietzsch and his wife, Delores, reside in Basehor.
