Dragons extend wins with victories over Maur Hill, Riverside

The Valley Falls baseball team extended its season record to 6-2 last week beating Maur Hill in a doubleheader and splitting with Riverside, formerly Doniphan County.

baseball The first Maur Hill game was a 15-0 shutout with Drew Pruett pitching. Jesse Blick was busy at the plate producing three runs, a double and solo home run and had four runs batted in. Nick Domann was 3 for 3 at the plate with one run and 2 RBIs.

Coach Jeff Schneider reports the team carried out a triple play to end the first inning. They have had seven double plays through eight games.

Luke Burns pitched the second Maur Hill game that ended 16-1. Blick was 3 for 3 at the plate with two RBIs and Alex Lederer was 3 for 3 and hit two home runs. Lederer had six RBIs.

Blick pitched a 3-1 game against Riverside when Domann was 2 for 3 at the plate and Ben Cook hit a home run.

Burns, Pruett, and Cook pitched the 2-3 loss to Riverside with Cook credited with the loss.

Domann and Cook were 2 for 3 at the plate and Brock Watson had two RBIs.

“The Dragons rallied in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game, but were unable to hang on for the win,” the coach said.
