National speaker slated to address Oskaloosa Rotary Club March 30
by Dennis Sharkey
Many of the Oskaloosa Rotary Club’s speaking guests have stories of travels, but not like next week’s guest.
The club will host national positive speaker Daniel Seddiqui, author of “50 Jobs in 50 States – One Man’s Journey of Discovery Across America.”
Seddiqui has been featured in dozens of news stories and television programs including The Today Show and CNN.
The Web site www.livingthemap.com chronicles Seddiqui’s journey and shows photos from each of his 50 stops. Seddiqui’s resume includes baseball scout, golf caddie, coal miner and meat packer.
Seddiqui stopped in Topeka and worked at a meat packing plant from Dec. 21 through Dec. 27, 2009.
According to his Web site his objective was to explore all of the environments and cultures that America has to offer.
“A majority of Americans are blinded from the opportunities that exist in the United States,” his Web site says.
Seddiqui graduated from the University of Southern California in 2005 with a degree in language arts.
He began to generate the idea of working 50 jobs in 50 weeks after he became frustrated with the process of finding a job. When he did find a job it wasn’t what he expected or didn’t fit.
Now Seddiqui travels the country with a single purpose of speaking to Americans about his experiences.
To accommodate Seddiqui the Rotary Club will move their March 30 meeting to the United Methodist Church in Oskaloosa. Those who are not members of the club are invited to attend to hear Seddiqui speak.
Some other local groups or students may also attend.
