Leslie Price

Leslie “Tennessee” Inez Smith Price, 47, Denison, died March 23, 2011.

Leslie PriceShe was born Oct. 27, 1963, in Topeka, the daughter of Robert L. and Mary M. Foster Smith.

She attended Heavy Equipment Operator School in Beloit and was the first female graduate.

After graduation she went to Abilene, Texas, to work as a heavy equipment operator. She then moved back to Kansas and began employment with Clarkson Construction Company in Kansas City and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local No. 101 for 14 years.

She married James P. Price Feb. 20, 1993.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include her mother of Topeka; daughter, Cheyenne Price, and son, Colt Price, of Denison; and two sisters, Kimberly Henderson and Tracy Frost, Topeka.

A memorial service was held Monday at Davidson Funeral Home, Topeka.
