Velma Elizabeth Hannah, 99, Manhattan, died Feb. 15, 2011, at the Via Christi Village in Manhattan.
She was born Oct. 25, 1911, at Winchester, the daughter of Frank and Meta McEndree Fourtner.
She was a 1929 graduate of Oskaloosa High School.
Mrs. Hannah worked in the Jefferson County Clerk’s office for 15 years, serving as Jefferson County Clerk from 1973 until her retirement in 1977. She had lived in Manhattan since 1978.
She was a member of the Oskaloosa United Methodist Church and was a 60-year member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 62 in Oskaloosa.
She married Charles Perry Hannah May 31, 1936, at Oskaloosa. He preceded her in death Oct. 7, 1999.
She is survived by a special friend, Glen Maughner, Manhattan; two daughters, Dorothy Knudsen, Oskaloosa, and Jane Magnuson, Manhattan; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Marie Gensler, Frances Bright, and Mae Edwards.
A service was held Feb. 19 at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home following Eastern Star rites. Burial was at Pleasant View Cemetery, Oskaloosa.
