Josephine Baker

Josephine M. Baker, 73, Lecompton, died Feb. 18, 2011, at the home of her niece.

Josephine BakerShe was born Feb. 14, 1938, in McKinney, Texas, the daughter of William R. and Mary E. Woolsey Baker.

She was a computer operator for Payless Shoe Source, retiring in 1994. She volunteered for VITA, giving free assistance with the filing of income taxes.

She is survived by a niece, Angela Winchester, Lecompton, and a nephew, Jerry Rogers, Ft. Riley.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Jody Rogers.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Feb 23 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Perry. Interment was in Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Amerian Cancer Society and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 S.W. 6th Ave., Topeka, 66603.
