Jefferson West senior signs with Fort Hays
Jefferson West senior Grady Tichenor, son of Jo and Dennis Tichenor, Valley Falls, signed a national letter of intent to play football at Fort Hays State University Feb. 7.
Grady was a two-time All-Big 7 selection for the tigers and plans to help Fort Hays compete in the MIAA conference. Tichenor earned All-League honors both as a runningback and defensive back in 2010, but plans to be utilized on the defensive side of the ball at Hays.
“Playing at the division II level will be a huge adjustment for Grady, but he will adapt quickly,” replied head coach Steve Johnson. “Grady has a tremendous work ethic and he is one of the most coachable young men I have ever had the opportunity to work with.”
Tichenor departs Jefferson West as the fourth leading rusher in school history and played a vital role in leading the Tigers 2009 play-off.
