James “Jim” E. Blair, 80, Ozawkie, died Feb. 18, 2011.
He was born Dec. 31, 1930, in Sioux City, Iowa, to William and Jean O’Connell Blair. He was a 1949 graduate of Gordon (Neb.) High School.
Jim worked throughout his formative years for Saub’s Grocery Store. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for the Abbott Banking Co. Later he was employed as a state bank examiner in Wyoming. In 1965 he became a federal bank examiner retiring in 1985.
He married Sharon Shald in 1956 in Gordon, Neb. They had two daughters, Tracy and Jamie. Sharon died in 1977. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Tracy and brothers, Mike and Jack.
He married Mary Swords McDaniel in 1982 and helped raise her three children. She survives.
Other survivors include his daughters, Jamie Blair, Albuquerque, N.M., Carrie Daniels, Ozawkie, and Shanna Burgardt, Topeka; a son, Wil McDaniel, Topeka; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Bonnie Weber, Sturgis, S.D., and Shirley Jacobson, Rushville, Neb.
A memorial ceremony was held Feb. 23 at the Jefferson Assembly of God Church, Meriden.
