Audrey Rogers

Audrey Elizabeth Rogers, 89, Perry, died Feb. 8, 2011, at the Deer Park South Senior Living Center in Meriden.

She was born May 4, 1921, at Alta Vista, the daughter of Frank and May Whitehouse Anderson.

She was a 1941 graduate of Alta Vista High School and was a 1944 graduate of the St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Manhattan.

Mrs. Rogers worked as a registered nurse for 25 years at the University of Kansas Watkins Hospital in Lawrence and at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She also assisted her husband in farming in rural Perry.

After her retirement, she spent winters in southern Texas.

She was a member of the Perry Christian Church.

She married Herbert Lauren Rogers Oct. 7, 1951, at Topeka. He survives at home.

She is also survived by one daughter, Carolyn Chinn, Lawrence; three grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were Feb. 12 at the Perry Christian Church. Burial was at Buster Cemetery, northeast of Perry.
