Thelma Clark

Thelma Louise Clark, 83, Berryton, died Jan. 13, 2011.

She was born April 4, 1927, at Horton, the daughter of Clyde and Pearl Rogers Coonse. She was raised on the family farm north of Muscotah in Atchison County. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1945.

She married Delbert Clark, Meriden, at the United Methodist Church in Meriden Oct. 5, 1952. He survives. They lived the rest of their lives east of Berryton where she helped her husband farm and raise their family.

She was a member of the Berryton Parent-Teachers Association while her children were in school, Berryton United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and helped with Bible school. She held an independent bible study at her home. She was a member of Shawnee County Farm Bureau and a volunteer at TARC in Topeka.

She was given the 2010 TARC Volunteer of the Year Award.

Other survivors include her children, Harland Clark and Clyde Clark, both Topeka, Renae Clark Robertson, Brownsville, Texas, and Leisa Loganbill, Berryton; her sister, Mary Alice Hohman, Kansas City; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Coonse, and sister, Marcella Handke.

Funeral services were Jan. 18 at Berryton United Methodist Church with interment at Lynn Creek Cemetery north of Berryton.
