Julie Nichols

Julie E. Gordon Nichols, 57, rural Meriden, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.

She was born March 28, 1953 at Lawrence, the daughter of Gerald Dale and Virginia Rose Weeks Moore.

She was a 1972 graduate of Oskaloosa High School. She worked as Director of Client Services for the Fiserv Check Processing Company, Bookfield, Wisc., for 37 years.

She married John Gordon Aug. 19, 1978. They divorced. She married Johnny A. Nichols on May 5, 2003. He survives at the home.

Other survivors include her mother, Virginia Rose Dyer, Oskaloosa; stepmother, Jean Moore, Baldwin City; son, Shawn Micheal Gordon, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two daughters, Kari Ann Gordon, McLouth, and Janey Gordon, Hereford, Texas.; stepson, Jason Koch, Wellington, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Jamie Koch,

Wellington, Ohio; three brothers, John Moore, Eldorado, Kan., Dan DeMersseman, Parsons, Kan., and Randy DeMersseman, Baldwin City, Kan.; four sisters, Jeralyn Lewis, Meriden, Loretta Zachary, Lawrence, Joyce Day, Ozawkie, and Denise Smith, Banderas, Texas.; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Moore, and her stepfather, Wilbert “Bert” Lee Dyer.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Meriden Chapel in Meriden. Burial will be at Ozawkie Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel and from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday prior to services.

Memorials may be made to the Jefferson County Humane Society in care of the funeral home at P.O. Box 331, Meriden, 66512.
