Gladys Bryant
Gladys L. Hysten Bryant, 95, Perry, died Jan. 14, 2011, at the F.W. Huston Senior Living Center in Winchester.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at Perry United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Ozawkie Cemetery. Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday prior to services at the church.
Mrs. Bryant will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. Memorials can be made to the F.W. Huston Senior Living Center or to Jefferson County Friends of Hospice and sent in care of the funeral home.
Mrs. Bryant was born Jan. 17, 1915, at Ozawkie, the daughter of Eugene Henry and Ethel Lucile Hurst Hysten. She had lived in Perry over 70 years.
She was a 1933 graduate of Ozawkie High School. She was a homemaker and had served as a foster parent for the state of Kansas many years.
She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Apostolic Faith in Tonganoxie.
She married Earl Wayne Bryant Nov. 23, 1936, at Perry. He preceded her in death Dec. 24, 2002.
She is survived by a son, Danold Bryant, Wichita; two daughters, Merna Jefferson, Topeka, and Joan Bryant Spann, Perry; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Noel, and Robert and two sisters, Doris and Carol.
