William Cook

William S. “Bill” Cook, 69, Valley Falls, died Nov. 15, 2010, at his son’s home in rural Mayetta of an apparent heart attack.

He was born Sept. 22, 1941, at Chanute, the son of Robert Dale and Hazel Laverne Vannocker Cook. He was a 1959 graduate of Meriden High School.

He was a retired lumberjack and logger of the logging industry in northeast Kansas since 1970.

He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Unit No. 225 of Ozawkie.

Survivors include two sons, Corky Dale Cook, Valley Falls, and Andy Bill Cook, Mayetta; one brother, Rocky Cook, Oklahoma City, Okla.; one sister, Jimi Jo Simmons Lassiter, Valley Falls; and four grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Gathering was held Nov. 19 at the Ozawkie American Legion Post.

Memorials can be made to the Ozawkie American Legion No. 225 and sent in care of Barnett-Chapel Oaks Meriden Chapel, P.O. Box 331, Meriden, 66512.
