Thelma Brey
Thelma Venita Brey, 98, Oskaloosa, died Nov. 19, 2010, at Lawrence memorial Hospital.
She was born June 27, 1912, in rural Oskaloosa, the second child of Robert and Ethel F. Johnston Brey. She was raised on the family farm and was a lifelong resident, staying to help her parents with the farm and dairy.
She also served as a caretaker for her parents and a brother.
She was a 1931 graduate of Oskaloosa High School.
She is survived by one brother, Calvin J. Brey, Leavenworth; and one sister, Norma N. Barnard, Oskaloosa.
Funeral services were Nov. 23 at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Burial was at Pleasant View Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the Jefferson County Humane Society or to the Jefferson County Historical Society and sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 416, Oskaloosa, 66066.
