McLouth schools looking for new superintendent
McLouth USD 342 once again has a help wanted sign in the window.
Last Monday night the board unanimously approved the appointment of Dean Wolfe to fill position three that was vacated by former Board President Dan Evans. Evans resigned in May. Wolfe will serve the remaining time of Evans term that expires next June. Board members Ed Courtney and Jessica Folsom were not present.
Wolfe becomes the seventh and final member of a full board.
However, the school district is now looking for a new superintendent after board members decided not to renew the contract of Jean Rush. Rush’s contract expires next June.
Rush did not want to comment about the move when contacted on Monday.
According to the meetings minutes board member Mike Tullis made a motion to hire Kansas Association of School Boards to begin the search for a new superintendent. The motion was seconded by Wolfe and the vote was unanimous.
The USD 342 board has seen a lot of movement in the last five months. In April nine year board member Mitchel Campbell resigned from the board. In a prepared statement Campbell said he and is family were being harassed in public for decisions he had made as a board member. Campbell was replaced by Heather Coit in August.
