Mary Brown

Mary Margaret Brown, 84, of the Lakeside Village Community near Ozawkie, died Sept. 9, 2010, at her home.

She was born Dec. 18, 1925, at Liebenthal, the daughter of Christian E. and Margaret Mary Dingus Legleiter. She had lived at Lakeside Village since 1980, moving from Kansas City.

She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Perry and a member of the Fairview Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

She married Wilbur Ray Brown July 24, 1951, at Kansas City. he preceded her in death Oct. 25, 2006.

She is survived by two daughters, Leona Alpar, Mesa, Ariz., and Frances Bryant, Kansas City; three sons, Richard Brown, Ozawkie, Michael Brown, Lawrence, and Mark Brown, Belton, Mo.; a sister, Rose Phannestil, Hutchinson; a brother, Paul Legleiter, New Mexico; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Ray Brown, April 25, 2003.

Mass of Christian Burial was Sept. 13 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Perry. Inurnment will be at a later date at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Perry.

Memorials can be made to the church or to Jefferson County Home Health Bath Buddy program and sent in care of Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, P.O. Box 416, Oskaloosa, 66066.
