Huston Medical Center offers new x-ray technology

The F.W. Huston Medical Center, Winchester, now offers new x-ray technology called Computed Radiography for conventional X-ray services.

Images produced by the CR reader are digital—completely computerized and stored electronically—which reduces the risk of lost or stolen films.

This new equipment not only decreases the radiation dose received by patients, but also produces high quality images.

CR does not require the use of film, so harmful chemicals commonly present for conventional film development are not needed and technologists are not at risk of exposure to the chemicals.

Radiology manager Traci Bell states that appointments are not necessary for patients with an order from their physician requesting X-rays.

Radiology services at the medical center can be utilized with any order from any physician.

“We also offer computed tomography, commonly referred to as CAT or CT scans and Ultrasound services,” Bell said.

All technologists at the medical center are registered.
