Motor vehicle accident reports:

Aug. 19, 2:40 p.m.: An unknown driver of a pickup truck was backing out on Elm Street in Perry when it struck a vehicle owned by Steven Cruse, Topeka.

Sept. 4, 5:16 p.m.: Elizabeth N. Woodman, 32, Topeka, was stopped on K-4 Hwy., facing north, waiting to turn on to Sherman Road. While Woodman was waiting she observed two motorcycles approaching her vehicle from the rear at a high rate of speed. Woodman reported that the first motorcycle sped past her car but a second bike driven by Gregoire J. Elsen, 49, Tecumseh, applied the brakes hard and slid by Woodman without striking her vehicle. The bike and Elsen then were flipped into the ditch. The bike then continued skidding down the highway. Elsen was transported to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.

Sept. 4, 6:45 p.m.: A vehicle driven by Madison C. Tucker, 15, Grantville, was trying to make a right turn from Maple Street onto East Wyandotte and went into the ditch and rolled over.

Sept. 5, 10:37 a.m.: Irene J. Hurst, 87, Valley Falls, was backing out of a parking spot on Frazier Street in Valley Falls when her car struck another vehicle attempting to back out that was driven by Ella M. Holding, 83, Winchester.

Sept. 5, 2:24 p.m.: A vehicle driven by Lula M. Armstrong, 55, Topeka, was backing out of a parking stall at Casey’s in Ozawkie when it struck and knocked over a motorcycle belonging to Darwin K. Richardson, 69, Kansas City.

Sept. 5, 6:29 p.m.: Two motorcycles driven by John B. Roark Jr., 47, Tonganoxie, and his son John B. Roark III, 27, Lawrence, were traveling on Ferguson Road near 114th Street. Roark III reported that he was slowing down as a car was approaching when he felt Roark Jr.’s bike hit the rear of his bike. Both bikes began to slide. Roark III’s girlfriend, Anastasia McDaneld, was also riding on his bike. Roark Jr. was riding alone. Roark Jr. was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. Roark III and McDaneld refused treatment.

Sept. 8, 3:49 p.m.: A JCN USD 339 school bus being driven by Teresa L. Atzenweiler, 41, Nortonville, was traveling on 174th Street and attempting to turn right onto Marion Road when a vehicle being driven by Nathan T. Robertson, 15, Valley Falls, struck the bus in the rear. Robertson said he could not see the bus because of dust. No passengers on the bus were hurt.

Sept. 13, 1 a.m.: A vehicle driven by Bryann D. Burke, 18, Lawrence, was traveling along 3rd Street near U.S. 24 Hwy., when it slid on mud that was on the roadway and flipped over into the west ditch.
