John Allen
John Thomas Allen, 68, Lawrence, died May 6, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 15, 1939, near Winchester, the son of William A. and Rachel L. Edmonds Allen.
He moved to Lawrence from Oskaloosa in 1983 to reside at Residential Alternatives and entered Cottowood Inc. for day services and community employment.
He attended school in Larned and worked on several dairy farms with his father. He also worked at the Jefferson County Geriatric Center in Winchester.
Survivors include three brothers, Marlin W. Allen, LaCygne, Harold “Ray” Allen, Piper, and Russell E. Allen, Osceola, Mo. He was preceded in death by a sister, Minnie M. Allen McAfee.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, at Lawrence Funeral Chapel, 3821 W. 6th Street, Lawrence, where a visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday prior to service. Memorials can be made to Residential Alternatives Activity Fund, P.O. Box 3828, Lawrence, 66047.
