A celebration of life for Stephanie Culver, 63, Perry, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at the American Legion in Perry.
Mrs. Culver died Aug. 20, 2010, after a battle with cancer.
She was born March 6, 1947, in Kansas City, Mo., and graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1965. She earned a degree in education from Washburn University in 1984.
Mrs. Culver spent 25 years as an elementary and middle school teacher in the Perry-Lecompton School District before retiring in 2009. In addition to teaching, she coached track and one year of seventh-grade football. The football team had a 6-1 record for the season.
She sponsored yearbook and cheerleading, established the school’s Ronald McDonald project and served on numerous district and statewide science committees.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Bill Culver, Perry; two sons, Curt Culver, Columbia, S.C., and Chuck Culver, Shawnee; two brothers, Steve Johnston, Leawood, and Denny Dow, Overland Park; a sister, Kathy Bradley, Murrieta, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
Memorials can be made to the Stephanie Culver Memorial Fund and sent in care of the Barnett -Chapel Oaks Funeral Services, P.O. Box 416, Oskaloosa, 66066.
