Progressive Club gets visit from Sheriff

The Progressive Club met on Aug. 12 at the home of Marian Nolting with 10 members answering the roll call with “What flowers withstand the extreme heat?”

The program was presented by Sheriff Jeff Herrig. He showed a film regarding ways identity theft can happen and what people should do to protect themselves. Herrig gave out the new Web site Jeffersoncountykssheriff.com.

A Taste of Elegance-Friends of Hospice to be held on Oct. 23 was discussed and the club voted to assist with the benefit. It was also voted to send a monetary contribution to the Pitchfork Fondue sponsored by the F.W. Huston Medical Center.

The Progressive Club also sponsored a blood drive held on Aug. 26.

A thank you was received from the children that took swim lessons this summer. The club sponsored them.

The next meeting will be Sept. 9.
