Thursday, December 14, 2006 One killed in car-semi accident on K-4 A two-vehicle wreck along K-4 Highway at its junction with US-59 Highway in Nortonville claimed the life of an Effingham woman Dec. 5. Karen Flory, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident that occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol accident report, Flory was driving her 1999 Buick sedan east on K-4 and failed to yield to a 2000 Peterbilt semi driven by Karl Kamp, 46, Quinter. The vehicles collided and came to rest in the median. Both Kamp and Flory had their seatbelts on and Kamp was uninjured. Services for Flory were held at the Nortonville Pleasant Grove Christian Church, where she was a member. Flory was a 1967 graduate of Nortonville High School and worked as a cook for USD 377 in Effingham.
