$2,000 reward offered to catch burglar at Valley Falls

by Clarke Davis

A rash of burglaries in downtown Valley Falls has prompted the Chamber of Commerce to get up a reward fund.

The Chamber is offering $2,000 to anyone who provides the information that will result in the apprehension and conviction of the burglars.

Mac’s Grill and the pharmacy have been broken into twice. Other businesses burglarized include The Old Elevator, the Bruce Tillery dental office, Midway Auto Supply, and Western Hardware & Auto.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s office is working with Valley Falls Police Chief Tammy Gross on the investigation.

Detective Randy Carreno said Monday that they were “working on it” but was not at liberty to give any specifics.

Gross believes she has determined who stole one vehicle and burglarized two others on or about March 12 or 13.

A vehicle owned by Cyrena Burghart was recovered several miles west of Valley Falls.

Gross said she has enough information in these cases, all felonies, to turn over to the prosecutor.
